Updated 2024-09-13
We protect your personal integrity and security when processing your personal data and therefore want to inform you about how we handle your personal data in accordance with the privacy regulations outlined below.
In this policy, we aim to inform you about what personal data we collect, how and for what purpose we process the personal data, and how you can proceed if you have questions or are dissatisfied with our handling of your personal data.
Swevet AB ("MWI Animal Health"), org. no. 556621-5843, is the data controller for the processing of your personal data in cases where MWI Animal Health collects the personal data and determines the purpose and means of the processing. For example, when you order a product via our website or request a quote.
Since May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) has replaced the Swedish Personal Data Act (1998:204) (PUL) to strengthen the protection and rights of all individuals whose personal data is processed.
A personal data item is any information that can be directly or indirectly attributed to an identifiable natural person (e.g., name, address, personal identification number, email address, IP address, and other identification data). The collection and processing of personal data we carry out is necessary to provide the services offered by MWI Animal Health. Processing refers, for example, to the collection, reading, use, transfer, and deletion of personal data. Personal data is only processed for intended purposes.
The four legal bases on which we operate:
LEGAL OBLIGATION
In some cases, companies are required to register personal data, for example, to fulfill accounting obligations under the Accounting Act. The Accounting Act states that companies must store documents and machine-readable media related to accounting for seven years after the end of the financial year.
CONTRACT
In customer and supplier agreements, we register and manage personal data (but only the data necessary to fulfill the agreement). We retain information based on the agreement for as long as the agreement is valid and beyond that if another legal basis becomes applicable, such as legal obligation.
CONSENT
Consent, according to the regulation, is “any freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject's wishes by which they, by a statement or by a clear affirmative action, signify agreement to the processing of personal data relating to them.” Unsubscribing from, e.g., newsletters takes effect immediately.
LEGITIMATE INTEREST
This means that if the company can demonstrate that its interest in processing the data outweighs the individual's right to privacy, this legal basis may be invoked.
Technical Reasons
For technical reasons, some personal data must be processed and stored when you visit our website MWI Animal Health.se. This includes date, time of visit, pages visited, identification data for the browser and operating system used. This data provides us with information about the number of visitors and how the website is used. The processing is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). In this balancing of interests, MWI Animal Health has assessed that we have a legitimate interest in ensuring network and information security and improving the website’s functionality, that the processing is necessary for that purpose, and that our interest outweighs your right not to have your personal data processed for this purpose.
Handling a Quote Request
In addition to website visits, personal data is collected and processed to handle a quote request. This processing is necessary for MWI Animal Health to be able to enter into and fulfill the agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Communicating with You About a Requested Product or Service
Processing of personal data also occurs when communicating with you about a requested product. This communication is necessary to fulfill the agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
When You Communicate with Us Through Other Digital Channels
Personal data is processed when you communicate with us through other digital channels. When you purchase our products or services, for example via email or social media, we use your personal data to respond to your inquiries. This processing is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in providing efficient customer service. In this balancing of interests, MWI Animal Health has determined that we have a legitimate business interest in being able to offer effective customer support.
Registering for Training
Processing of personal data occurs when you register for training. This processing is necessary to fulfill the agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Handling Payments
To handle payments for the products and services you purchase from us, your personal data is processed as a necessary part of the agreement (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). In some cases, this data is also processed to fulfill legal obligations, such as accounting requirements (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
Customer Surveys
We may use your personal data to conduct surveys aimed at improving our service. This processing is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in improving our service. In this balancing of interests, MWI Animal Health has determined that we have a legitimate business interest in improving our service to you.
Marketing Purposes
Your personal data (including name, address, phone number, email address, ID number, electronic identification data) may also be used to send you information and offers about our products or services. If we use your personal data for direct marketing via email or other electronic means, this is done with your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time. For other marketing, the processing is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in promoting our products and services.
By implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures, MWI Animal Health is responsible for ensuring that your personal data is handled securely and protected against intrusion, access, disclosure, loss, or other unauthorized processing. MWI Animal Health operates in accordance with applicable and relevant security standards. We conduct regular security assessments and update our security measures accordingly.
We collect, process, and store only the personal data necessary to fulfill our obligations to you as a customer. The data is always limited to what is strictly required for each specific purpose for which it is used.
Since our service to you depends on your personal information being accurate and up-to-date, we kindly ask you to inform us of any relevant changes to your personal data. You can contact customer service to notify us of these changes. If we discover incorrect information, we will update the data and inform you accordingly.
The information is stored for the period agreed upon or as required by law, and we ensure the deletion of personal data when it is no longer necessary for the intended purpose. The retention period is determined by the purpose and the legal basis for the processing, so there is no general storage period that applies to all processing activities.
When required by law, MWI Animal Health will obtain your consent before processing your personal data. You may withdraw your consent at any time by notifying us.
We transfer personal data to third parties in cases where we use subcontractors or partners to fulfill the agreement we have with you, as well as in cases of suspected legal violations where we are obligated to provide such information to authorities. To ensure that the data is handled securely and only for the purpose of fulfilling the ordered service and intended purpose, these third parties are bound by the same statutory obligations that apply to MWI Animal Health. This is done through MWI Animal Health entering into a so-called data processing agreement with the relevant third party.

Your Rights Under the GDPR
In accordance with data protection legislation (GDPR), you have control over your personal data and the right to receive information directly from us about how we process your data. Below you can read about your rights:
Right of access: You have the right to ask us to confirm whether we are processing personal data about you, and if so, to receive a copy of the personal data we process about you by requesting a so-called data subject access request. Please note that if we receive such a request, we may ask you for additional information to ensure efficient handling of your request and to ensure information is provided to the correct person.
Right to rectification: You have the right to have incorrect personal data we process about you corrected without undue delay. Within this right, you also have the right to have incomplete personal data completed with regard to the purpose of the processing.

You may ask us for more information about the circumstances in which we are obligated to delete your personal data by contacting us. Please note that we are not obliged to delete your personal data if we can demonstrate that processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, or if we have another lawful reason to retain the data.
Right to restriction of processing: You have the right to ask us to restrict our processing of your personal data under certain circumstances, for example if you dispute the accuracy of the data we process, you may request restricted processing while we verify the accuracy. You can ask us for more information about the circumstances in which we are required to restrict processing by contacting us.

You also have the right to request that these data be transferred directly from us to another controller, where technically feasible (so-called data portability).
If you believe that our processing of your personal data violates applicable law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a relevant supervisory authority within the EU/EEA (for example the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, www.datatilsynet.no), in your country of residence, country of employment, or the country where the alleged violation occurred.
